G'day,

Great to see you back "on air" Dave, hope you are now mending well. No rush on this if you don't have the time, maybe others can help me set this up properly.

I am having trouble persuading PF3 to guide me to the right kind of parking spot at the end of a flight. Looking at the manual, there seem to be three choices:
  1. Options #2 > Designated Parking Control: this lets you force the TGS to take to to a specific gate or parking spot. Settings here take priority over 2 & 3 below.
  2. Options #2 > Advanced Options and INI Tweaks > Gate Parking Only: This forces TGS to always take you to a Gate if checked. This seems to take priority over 3 below.
  3. Options #1 > Taxi Guidance System: The drop-down menu allows you to choose from a list of gate/parking types
Under Options #2 > Advanced Options and INI Tweaks > Taxi to Gate, I have "Randomly Chosen Gate" selected

The third option above would suit my habits best, but it doesn't work for me. With 1 & 2 disabled it seems to send me to GA parking every time.

It isn't difficult to persuade the system to take you to a gate (2 above), but getting to Cargo Parking is a bit of a challenge without resorting to item 1 above, which ideally I don't want to use as I have to remember to delete the assignment afterwards to avoid future passenger flights ending up in a cargo terminal!

Attached is a log for a cargo flight into Bournemouth, there were several Cargo parkings available and empty but I was sent to GA parking.

One other thing I have noticed is that my First Officer guides me nicely with the TGS system but no longer says "Gate" on reaching the destination spot - all you see is the TGS gauge pointer go blank to know you are there.

Best regards,

John

I'm afraid your only option at the moment Jon is #1

OK, if that's what I have to do, that is what I have to do. :)

But doesn't that make option 3 a bit of a white elephant?

I agree and PF3 'should' allow option #3 to work 'as intended'. I will certainly be looking into this for the future

Good morning, Dave,

From having now done three flights using this system, I think this is 99% there but not quite . . .

First flight I selected Ramp Cargo in Options 1 but ended up at a gate.
Second flight I left the selection at Ramp Cargo and ended up in the right place
Third flight I selected Gate Small but ended up at Cargo

My mind might be running away with me but my gut feeling is that you are being taken to the location specified for the previous flight rather than the current one.

Log for third flight attached.

John

Its a large file - too big for your system, it seems, Dave. I've made it available here:
https://adventure-unlimited.org/misc/Runways.zip
