Hi,

I'm having trouble using PF3 in XP11. Every time I connect it warns me that I'm connecting to FSX. I have chosen FS2020 data in the SID/STARS menu, disabled some runways, but PF3 is using FSX data which I can't update as I don't have that old sim.

Any tips how can I use PF3 with XP11 nav data, or similar?

Any general tips how to use PF3 with XP11 and Active Sky XP? PF3 is constantly assigning wrong runways because it read default XP11 weather, not what ASXP injects. So I decided to disable all runways that are tailwind and short, but PF3 does not use that info in XP11 at all.

I'm stuck how to setup PF3 for a proper usage in XP11.


Any suggestion and help are appreciated.

Hi. The good news is that I have used PF3 with X-Plane 11, successfully, for five years now, so I know it does all work together; maybe I can help.

The first thing to check is whether you have installed the PFEtoXPlane plugin in the base folder of XP11. Does it show up as active in the onscreen XP11 plugin menu? If so, I use the FSX runway database, which works fine with XP11 99% of the time: I don't have MS FS2020.

Did you run the update database process in PF3? Which files did you 'point to' in the database creation process? Can you write a step by step of what you do to try to connect PF3 to XP - perhaps some screenshots? Maybe I can see where the problem lies. I have mine set up pretty much automatically.. I just click on 'Connect' on the PF3 and everything works, but perhaps I'll be able to think of what might be going wrong for you.

I don't know anything about Active Sky I'm afraid, I haven't used it since MS FS2004.

- Yes, I ran the update database process, but with runways.csv file from scanning FS2020, as I thought that FS2020 database will work.

So, how can I update the PF3 database with runways.cs from FSX, when I don't have FSX to scan? Should I scan Prepar3D v5?

ActiveSky is a pretty mandatory app for XP11 in my, and in majority opinion, as it provides an option to use historic weather, has great depiction of turbulence, windshear, etc. Never used real time weather in XP11, as I fly mostly after midnight here in Europe, so sadly can't use real time weather in EU, or even in USA that I fly mostly lately. I always start with a morning flight in the sim, with Toliss A319, and make a triangle for one sim day. I do one route per night, so I need 3 nights to complete the triangle, that is why I simply need historic weather.

To be honest, it is so long since I set this all up that I'm afraid I don't recall exactly how I did it... Did you run makerwys.exe, in the main XP11 folder?

Thank you for the file! Will certainly try that one when building the database and switch to FSX in options.

BTW running makerwys in XP11 folder picks up FS2020 scenery, seeing the path showing during the app collecting data.
