I'm sure this is not a unique issue but reporting this just to make sure since i haven't seen this reported yet. When I "check for updates" using 3.17.0 I'm not getting anything - there is no notification of a new update nor anything saying that no update is available. The time/date for the last update check is fine.

I'm downloading the cumulative update file so it' not a big deal...but whereas I saw some people say their auto-updates aren't installing...I'm not even seeing an update as available.

Cheers, mike

I am getting no sound. I get a ding when I press a number key, but no voice.

Not sure if it's PF3 update or SU11 MSFS.

Found out what it was.

I had previously disabled some voice sets. Now all reenabled it works fine.

Hi Mike,

Could you please see if there's a PF3-Updater.log and a PF3-Updater-old.log in the PF3\Logs directory.
If so, please could you upload them so I can take a look - I'm currently working on the updater to fix the other issue that's being seen.

Thanks,
Martin

So I checked the log file folder and the PF3-Updater.log file was there and shows a check this morning when I loaded it but I'm running 3.18 so it obviously didn't find anything. It also only shows the check from this morning (11/12/22) which I'm sure is by design...so I can't check to see what it was doing prior to manually updating to 3.18.

There is NOT a PF3-Updater-old.log (or similarly named file) in the directory.

Like i said...it's not a big deal at this point. Just wanted to put it out there that at least some/one of us wasn't getting update checks to work correctly (at least prior to 3.18).

Thanks Mike, that suggests that for some reason you didn't have the new updater with 3.17.0 which is very curious.
Having the log confirms that you now have the new updater and the once per day automatic update checks are working.

Cheers,
Martin

I'm trying to update V. 3.17 to .18, but strange things happen:
I have to manually search for update and then get the corresponding message to proceed. As the program does not close automatically I select "ignore" and download continues. When installing, Windows Defender pops up with message, that a Trojan was detected called "WACATAC.B!ml" and installation is stopped. Unfortunately also PF3.exe-file is deleted from my installation. Fortunately I can recover this file from backup, but it is again V. 3.17.
Performing a second try I stopped Defender and made the same procedure again. Now the installtion worked, but as soon as I restart Defender the same message appears and PF3.exe is deleted.

Any idea what to to?

Thanks!
Norbert

Well I would guess you could try reporting to Microsoft regarding a false positive, but you will probably be waiting till Windows 14 before receiving an answer, if you ever do. Alternatively, which I always choose to do, is install a good Anti Virus system that is more configurable, offers good support for things like reporting false positives, and is probably more secure that MS Defender. But that, of course, is my humble opinion

Thanks Mike for your fast response!
With my 77 years maybe I'm already gone when Windows 14 will be introduced!
So I took another step and excluded the complete PF3-folder from Defender. Seems to work till now ...
