Hello,

1. PF3 Demo is not able to connect to FS.
2. When starting 'Rebuild PF3 database' PF3 Demo crashes to desktop.

I installed PF3 Demo as administrator in a separate folder on the same SSD as MSFS 2020.
I updated DirectX.
FSUIPC7_v.7.3.7 is running.
MSFS Beta 10 (v. 1.27.14.0) is running.

Attached: log files

Your assistance is highly appreciated!

Kind Regards,

Edward Sluijter

It appears you have some system DirectX files missing so would suggest the following:

Download the Microsoft DirectX for Managed Code Runtimes, using the following link:-

http://www.ocs-support.co.uk/downloads/ ... ntimes.zip

Once downloaded you need to unzip the content into a temporary folder, this can be anywhere on your system. Then run the file named directx_apr2006_redist.exe. You will be prompted for a location to copy the extracted files into, so you could just choose the same temp folder.

Once that's done go into the temp folder and right-click the 'DXSetup.exe' program, select 'Run as Administrator' and then follow the on-screen instructions to install the runtimes.

This will NOT alter any of your currently installed DirectX files but merely installs any missing runtimes in parallel with any existing DirectX files
Once the DirectX Runtimes are installed please try running PF3 again and connecting to FS and let me know what happens. You can also delete the downloaded runtimes and temp folder if you wish

Thank you for sending the PF3 error logs.

There is also a possible issue for those using non UK English Windows Regional Settings which can cause (a) PF3 to supposedly crash and/or (b) being unable to load a flight plan, resulting in an invalid string error in the FPP log.

Required change:

Open 'Windows Settings'

Select 'Time & Language'

Select 'Language' in the left column

Select 'Administrative language settings' from the right-hand column

From the popup display (under 'Language for non-Unicode programs') select 'Change System Locale'

Unselect 'Use Unicode UTF-8 for worldwide language support' if selected

Then select 'English UK' for the 'Current System Locale'

Select 'OK' to confirm then exit Windows settings.

You 'may' have to restart Windows at this stage.

Please retry PF3 and let us know how you get on

I carried out everything you described but still not able to connect to FS. The Connect to FS button is simply greyed out.

As I said, I run FS beta 10 steam edition and it runs well. Could that be the cause of the issue?

The 'connect' button only becomes available after you've loaded a flight plan. Have you done that?

Negative.

I only use simBrief and the PMDG 737 (.RTE) to generate flight Plans/routes. I never use FS20 for that.

At least I would like to have the possibility to manually input a route into PF3 such as: VNKT RWY02 IGRI1C KIMTI VNLK TUMLI SUBSU SUBSU1 VGHS RWY33

What can you offer me?

Cheers,
Edward

As far as I am aware there is no means of inputting a flightplan manually into PF3.
If you're using simBrief then the easiest thing is to export the flightplan from there in MSFS format - this can then be loaded straight into PF3.

Cheers,
Martin

Unfortunately I experienced another issue with loading a FS20 generated flight Plan.

I choose: 'Select a flight plan'--> Error 13 - Desc: Type mismatch in PopulatePlans at loc: 220 --> OK

Now a new window opens: 'Load a Flight Plan for use with PF3' --> I select a FS20 generated flight plan: 'VNKTVQPR.PLN'

Now I select: 'Load a Flight Plan'--> 'There was a problem whilst processing this flight plan!' --> OK --> 'Run-time error '9' Subscipt out of range' --> OK

PF3 is closed now!

n.b. I tried this because I wanted to test if it would be possible to edit a flight plan once imported in PF3.

Please zip and attach the flight plan you are trying to load

Attached is a flight plan generated in simBrief and exported in FS20 format.

In my opinion there is more going on here than a possible flight plan problem since the error 13 appears right in the beginning before trying to load a flight plan.

A general question about PF3: Can an imported flight plan be edited? i.e at least runways, and consequently also Sids and Stars, must be able to be changed at the last minute.

Cheers, Edward
