I know I reported this once before - can't locate the thread for some reason. Still having this issue, about 10% of the time.

PF3 loads up quite normally (apparently): the flight plan loads, the usual dialogue boxes appear, SID/STAR whatever, and the programme connects to the sim. But when you come to any input via the keypad.. completely dead. No response. No little 'beep' sound (which I have active) to indicate that the input has been received. If you disconnect and try again, the same result. Only closing down PF3 and starting it up again fixes things. Invariably PF3 will then work as normal and respond to keyboard input.

I attach a log file - is there any indication as to why I am having this problem? As I say, there's nothing in the GUI to indicate that there is anything wrong.

Thanks

Hi Dave.

I don't suppose (it being X-Plane!) you have any more idea what that means, in practice, than I do? The path to the sim shown is correct. What path should PF3 be using to locate the kneeboard file (which it says it can't locate)? Moreover, if, as I say, I close down PF3 and immediately start it up again with exactly the same parameters, it responds just fine second time round.

Perhaps I will just have to resign myself to this - or contact PFEtoXPlane perhaps?

Thanks,

Martin

All I know is it's looking for the nobrief.htm file in the FS\Uires\ folder and can't find it - Error 76 (path not found). Does that folder even exist in XPlane? If not just create it and see if that helps

No, that folder is a blast from the (FS9) past!! Three years since I moved to XP11. How time flies (so to speak!).

It doesn't exist in XP, but I can try creating it, as you suggest. If the html file exists in FS9, I'll have a copy backed up somewhere.

As 90%+ flights work just fine, it'll be a while until I can say whether there's any difference. Odd though that simply restarting PF3 always ensures the problem is fixed, for that time. If there were a missing file, why would it matter one time and not the next? (Rhetorical question!).

Thanks Dave.

Hi Martin,

I've been trying to upload the 'nobrief.htm' files for FSX and FS9 for you, but it has been impossible for me to do this.

Anyway, these files are very simple and you can create them with NOTEPAD. What you have to copy and paste into a blank document is the following:

For FSX:

<HTML>
<META HTTP-EQUIV = "Content-Type" CONTENT = "text / html; charset = windows-1252">
<BODY>
There is no information available for this flight.
</BODY>
</HTML>

For FS9:

<HTML>
<META HTTP-EQUIV = "Content-Type" CONTENT = "text / html; charset = windows-1252">
<BODY>
There is no information available for this flight.
</BODY>
</HTML>

As you can see, it is exactly the same file for the two simulators.

Save the file with the extension '.htm' and see if it works for you.

A greeting.

You don't need that file and pf3 won't complain if it's not there.... It's the path to the file it wasn't happy about.

Here's another log file. Does it show the same problem? PF3 connects and everything seems normal... but no response to any keyboard input at all. Close down PF3 and start again... and it's as it should be.

The log file I posted last time was downloaded 11 times, but I guess no advance? Did it show the same problem with a 'Uires' folder? Odd that this is a problem that occurs only about one in every dozen or so times I connect PF3. If the programme has a problem with the path to a non-existent folder, why would it only be intermittent? (Rhetorical question!).

Thanks.

Hi Martin, if there's no response to hotkeys it has to be something to do with the FSUIPC alternative you have the use for XP. Have you raised this with them?
