I followed Sebastian’s tutorial and did a test flight, unfortunately ATC decended me way too late and I specifically input that I had to be at FL130 at a certain waypoint. I also put the aircraft preset data in so between the two I felt it should know better when to put me into decent.

Second question, not so much an issue as I can deal with it, but is there a way to decend from let’s say FL380 to FL230 to FL100, rather then decend to FL350-FL320-FL300 and so on. I just felt like it was a bit too much. Right now while I’m testing I’m not running AI to clutter the comms, but I’m sure when I input AI, it’ll get insane with giving me that much plus talking to them.

Thank you in advance!

Please zip and attach the debug log from your pf3\logs folder so we can see exactly what's happening, otherwise we have no way of knowing and can't really comment.

As Dave said we need to see the log files before we can ascertain what happened. But, based on your description it looks like a flightplan error.

I have tested your fpl against skyvector and flown it according to the PF3 generated flight levels except for the STAR arriving at LFPG after LORNI which I inserted manually. There were no problems. Your aircraft preset should be for a commercial jet. Therefore you should enter into your aircraft profile, climb rate 2000fpm, descent rate 2500fpm, approach speed 160 IAS. The last number 160 IAS is not your threshold speed i.e. Vat. It is the last speed called out by ATC before you slow down to Vat. If you are at max auw then you start to slow down to Vat at 6DME otherwise at 4DME. If your calcuated threshold speed is less than 5kts below 160IAS then you need to change the 160IAS in the a/c profile to 170IAS. And append "heavy" to your callsign.

I'm sorry but I don't see how PF3 was descending you too early! Perhaps you could be a bit more specific. From what I can see from the log ATC were descending you correctly as per your flight profile but I'm more than happy to stand corrected and take another look.

If your FMC is telling you to descend that has nothing to do with PF3 or even real ATC. Your FMC is only an aide memoire for the crew. You can as in real life ask PF3 to descend if it is fuel critical.

It looks like your flight plan has a lot of waypoints that in some cases are very close together. This isn't necessarily a problem but if you have waypoints that are very close together (5 or 6 nm) in the descent portion of your flight you are probably going to get more frequent step-descent instructions from PF3.

You should always regard the PF3 generated profile as advisory. Whilst it is pretty accurate on most occasions it doesn't take account of local restrictions etc., So this where the waypoint adjustment page comes in. This allows you to adjust wypt altitudes according to published restrictions and how you want to make your descent. That said the generated profile of your fpl was easily achieved when I ran it earlier.
