My flight today EGLL to LFPO had some PF3 issues.
14 Nm in the STAR the altitude fix is 13000. So I've set that altitude at the beginning of the STAR. When the VNAV of my Q400 indicates that it is time to descend for a point that is 14 Nm further, I still have not heard from ATC, so I asked L9 (because L12, what it should have been is no option).
At the STAR beginning I get RWY02 which is correct. Wind is 010@6. Is was that and it stayed that according to my AS16. But I get a RWY change for RWY20 and after that again back to 02 and, guess what.... again back to 20. So I had to ask for 02 and finally got it.
I think that this has something to do with where PF3 gets the weather. Not from the METAR for sure, because that stayed the same all the time during arrival and approach. And.... in the real world there really must be a significent wind change for ATC to direct aircraft that are in a STAR already, to another RWY. Even when the STAR is as long as it is at LFPO.
It might be, that PF3 uses the weather from the sim because not everybody is on 'real world weather'. Well.... then it might be a good idea to have a switch in PF3 that implicates 'real world weather from the METAR' instead of from the sim.
Cheers
