I have a question concerning the climb and descent rates in the aircraft profiles. Climb rates are easy to find, but not so descent rates. How do you guys do it? Do you have a database? Or is there a rule of thumb, like descent rate = climb rate x 1,5 for props?
I don't recommend using the maximum climb rates from the aircraft manuals.
http://webapp1.dlib.indiana.edu/virtual ... A01001.HTM has a list of climb and descent rates for many aircraft types, but often I configure lower rates than listed here.
Some examples I use:
For GA 1-2 engine non-turbo props (C162/C172/C182/C337) I usually use 800/800fpm
For turboprops something between 1000 and 2000, but more varied than the non-turbos (C441: 2000/1500; PA23F: 1000/1500; C310R: 1000/1000); Dash8-Q400: 1500/1000; MU-2B: 1500/1500)
For older propliners (B377/L049) even 500/500.
