I meant to say that ATC keeps saying..."Request IFR for Flight Level XXX"

Before I send the logs...is this not normal ?

And I'd still like to learn proper VFR procedure with ATC...I didn't see it in the docs.

Do I still get vectors to final...runway assignment?

What is differences with VFR compared to IFR while using PF3

Ah ha, yes that message is correct and it simply means you are going above the permitted altitude for VFR.

Sorry for my ignorance...how do I know the right altitudes without ATC giving me instructions beforehand?...and...if I descend to where ATC says, the messages will stop?

Select Options #1 screen and then Trans Alt & Alt Baro Calls screen. At the bottom you can choose to use each region's transition altitude for VFR max altitude, or 18,000 across the board.

Nice! But I need at least FL 220 to get the conquest up to 200kts...Is that altitude still within VFR restrictions?

As a rule of thumb VFR extends up to transition level. But only if you are in "uncontrolled" airspace. Otherwise you are controlled from the ground up. Controlled airspace infers IFR btw.
FL220 is most definately not VFR. Anything that is a flight level is IFR.

I would expect island hopping to be IFR, because there are no landmarks on the water. Or if you can still see landmarks, it is only a short trip, so no high altitude.
If you do not want to do VOR/NDB navigation, just use the GPS. PF3 will not complain :)
And you can switch back to VFR near your destination by contacting FSS at 122.0 or the local frequency.

By the way, the conquest is a nice bird. Do I assume correctly that you are using Flysimware's C441, too? If yes, maybe my mod to hide the pilot's yoke by default could be interesting for you, see: http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?DLID=195691

Edit: Or just configure a higher transition altitude for the region you fly in, in Options #1 -> Trans Alt, and enable "Use Transition Alt for VFR max" on the same page. It is not realistic, but PF3 gives you the option.
