I am sure there have been other threads in the past on this (may even have commented myself), but I have had no success finding them. So here's another....

When I open PF3 and I am, on occasion, informed that there is a new update, I usually let the update run. Files are downloaded but it ends up with my being told that I must install the update in the location where PF3 was originally installed (or words to that effect), and the update closes down. Afterwards, according to the GUI, no update has been made. (I am still showing 3.10.25 at the moment: if I run update again, I am told PF3 is up to date)

PF3 has been in the same location ever since I first installed it, and runs fine, so I do not understand why I get this message - and since no window comes up asking me to locate PF3, there isn't much I can do about it. I can't see any path info for updates in the ini (or other) file that I can change manually... Do I need to install manually every time or can this be fixed?

Thanks,

Martin

Hi Martin,

It could be fixed if I could recreate it but unfortunately I've never seen the problem. :o Most users don't have the issue. I know that doesn't help you at all but there it is. I'm sure one day I'll trip over the bug when I'm not looking for it but in the interim I'm afraid you will have to use the manual update method.

OK Dave, thanks. Not like there's a PF3 update every week.

Is that a complaint?

Haha. I so nearly put a smiley to show it wasn't (as you of course know) ;)

The auto update usually works for me, but on more than one occasion it hasn't picked a new version up, and when I check manually I'm been told that PF3 is up-to-date.
This happened again yesterday after the auto update failed due to the corrupted file.
Is this the expected behaviour? - I downloaded the corrected cumulative update and applied it without a problem.

Not a complaint, just a clarification :)

Martin

Yes I know why, if you had a hiccup mid-way through the update, subsequent attempts would indicate there was no update available... that's due to the flagging system. But what the OP is reporting is something slightly different
