Mmmmmmmmmh... do you have a Display.DAT file in your main PF3 folder? If you open it with Notepad you should see the last ATC instruction. Also, if you rerun PF3 you should see this file being updated for each ATC transmission.

John are you running PF3 as Admin i.e. right-click exe and select 'Run as Administrator'? Still doesn't make sense why the other windows are working and the Caption's aren't though

Hi Dave
I am running PF3 as an administrator. I checked the Display.DAT file and it is indeed updating to the last ATC instruction.

I have run PF3.exe in combability mode for Windows 8. I also changed the positions for the Caption window in the Display.ini file in case the Captions window was somehow "off screen". Unfortunately none of this helped. I have a second monitor attached but it is not appearing there. I even disconnected the monitor.

For some reason the Display.DAT is updating but is not showing the updated text on screen.

If you have any further ideas, I am of course very willing to test these out for you.

BTY, have you thought of having the Caption window show up with the use of a hot key? That might get me up and running.

Thanks for all your help so far.

Regards and happy new year.

John

Dave
I have tried using remote text in the demo mode hoping to show the spoken ATC, however it says "waiting for connection". Just wondering if this has any relevance to the Captions window not showing?

Have you activated remote text in options #2?

Okay, if you have the correct PFEServer entry in the RemoteText.INI pointing to the PC running PF3 (either computer name or IP address) AND the PFEPort shown in the RemoteText.INI file is the same as that shown in PF3 (just below where you activated it)... the default, unless you changed it, is 1008 then you have everything setup correctly.

The only other reason preventing it then could be your Antivirus and/or Firewall. I say and/or because they are combined with most AV's. I had the very same issue with my AV (AVG) and have had to open the various TCP/IP ports to allow RemoteText and PF3 Display utilities to 'connect' with PF3.

Thanks Dave, did all that but nothing worked.

I'll just have to stick with the crappy default ATC. Thanks for your help anyway.

John.

Well I can't let that happen

If you use TeamViewer I could take a look for you... I have a utility that scans for active TCP ports, etc.
