Crossing Runways

Whether taxiing to the take off point or to the gate after landing there is sometimes the need to cross an active runway. To date I have yet to receive any clearance from tne Tower to cross such a runway. Is there a way to ask for "Clearance to Cross ?". I dont recall seeing mention of it in the manual.

Just found the relevant section. 8.8.1. Will try again armed with this info.
