No sexism intended, but I fly exclusively in the 1950s when there were no female aircrew or controllers. I understand the principle of exluding voice files, and I wondered if there was a simple way of ID-ing female voices without listening to all of them.

Don't bash on those fighting for the rights of women. Keep your eyes open and you can learn that 'unfortunately' this is still needed.

By the way, thank you for making me verify this. I've read about women as controllers during WW2, but didn't know anything about the years after that.

If you check out the live feeds at liveatc.net it can be surprising how many women controllers are on daily duty, maybe not in all parts of the world but definitely at some major airports. O'Hare Tower and Boston Logan Tower (among others) regularly have women controllers and the pilots probably don't even give it a thought when they check in and a woman responds, but I'm sure that wasn't always the case.

Yeah, I'm aware that women were recruited by the CAA in the US from the early 50s for ATC roles, but they were mostly used in support roles and very rarely actually on mic. Same for some European countries. Nowhere outside those areas.

Anyway, my cunning plan failed. What happens if you use closed caption and ID the female voices and deselect them is that eventually PF3 just allocates non-local female voices to fill the gaps. Flying in the mid-West, I ended up with Scottish lasses on mic. Ho Hum
