OK-Its a long time since I did this but I think you've got both zips in the '.zip' now.

If PF3 processed the flight plan then there's nothing wrong with the PF3 database.... the airports MUST be in the database otherwise you would have had an error. The only way of knowing why ATC went silent on you is to see the debug log, which you haven't included. My guess is you probably missed an instruction which ATC/PF3 was waiting for you to complete.

OK-Sorry.

Here's the whole 'logs' file....I think.

By the way, there was no ATC communication right from the off. It was only when we got in the air that we started getting something that the co-pilot could respond to.

I don't believe this.

I just loaded a flight (KBUF-KCLE) to continue my around America in short steps series.

Guess what, ATC come up nicely and saw me to the runway and take off.

I had to pack up then (the plumber came!).

I'll never understand computers! Or does FP3 just have a blind spot when it comes to just those couple of airports where it didn't work? Or, more likely, does my computer get it wrong when in or near those places?

We'll never know now cos' I'm not wasting any more time on that and want to get on with my normal flying.

Thanks for trying to help fellers. If you are interested, you've got the information now anyway.

John

Thanks again

John

John,
You departed an uncontrolled airport and never made contact with any ATC facility so I'm not sure (a) what you were expecting and/or (b) what you believe the problem was and/or what you think should have happened

So you can't tell before you decide to depart from that particular airport. H'm, a departure from real life then.

You mentioned that I had made no attempt to contact ATC during the flight. Actually, I did. I must have pressed every button on the keyboard to do that....Without success obviously.

Ah, I think in my previous answer I misunderstood what you asked (but I leave it there in case anyone finds it useful).

So here's the answer to this question:
If you want to know if there is a tower frequency at a certain airport before even creating a flight plan, you can start PF3, select "Options #2", then "Add a NEW Facility Frequency", enter the ICAO code, press Enter, then click on "Show FS Freqs for this airport".

If there is no tower frequency, it is an uncontrolled airport. The correct term is even "nontowered airport", see https://www.aopa.org/-/media/files/aopa ... s/sa08.pdf

But you want a tower frequency (instead of using Unicom or Multicom), then you can add it here, too. One of the new features in PF3 compared to PFE :)
