When I opened PF3 this morning it came up with the caption; 'Have you tried the PF3+FDC experience'.

What's this?

John

It's advertising our other product called FDC (Flightdeck Companion as it was known as)
Basically if you use FDC it can work with PF3/PFE. ;)

Well, perhaps I would if I had known.

I suppose now I had better look at what it does! ;)

Well, I had a look and it sounded interesting. However, I found it a bit sparse on whether it was actually still available, whether it will work with a modern computer running P3Dv4.2 etc.,etc.

I seems that as a product, it is being run down and is already, or soon to be withdrawn completely. I also noticed it said there was no 'support' for it.

Unfortunately therefore, I've had to come to the conclusion that as much as I like the idea of the added realism it no doubt offers, I'm not going to risk what I've already got and waste money on what seems to me to be a product on the edge of extinction.

Sorry about that.

John

Hi John

As the developer of FDC I can assure you the product is NOT being withdrawn. It's true to say there have been no updates to it for many years, but then again it does exactly what is says on the box. It is still available via our publishers Aerosoft and as for support there is a dedicated support forum right here! As for the product being on the edge of extinction, it's as near to the edge as I am..... mmmmmmh, okay, I get your point!

I'll have anoither look then Dave.

I must admit I didn't look on the Aerosoft site. It was what I read on this one that gave me the wrong impression!!

I now have and this is what it gives as System Requirements;

'System requirements:
Microsoft Flight Simulator X or 2004
Windows 7, Vista, XP
2.,8 GHz processor
2 GB RAM
DirectX 9 compatible graphic card with min. 512 MB'

Now I have Windows 10, P3Dv4.2 and I'm not sure if my graphics card will back date itself to Direct itself back to DirectX 9.

Now to my simple mind, none of my components bear a relation to those of FDC?

Hi John,
I use FDC all the time alongside PF3. I think its a great addition to the experience.
My system is Win 10 64bit
Geforce GTX 750ti due to be replaced as only has 2gb memory
CPU i5 OC to 4.2mhz
P3d 4.1 will update, probably at 4.3

hope this helps.

Kind regards Steve.

Hm. Alright, thanks for the info Steve. I'll have another look. Its the third time and its going to be the last. Whatever the outcome.

I've given up. Instead of a download Aerosoft want to deliver it to me by mail which damn near doubles the price!

Sorry, but I've had enough. I kow you'll say its my loss but I can do without it.
