I've just changed my laptop to a new one. However, after installing everything and defragging (3 days straight), I found PF3 to be useless in my new rig, despite having deactivated the license in the old one, because I'm now unable to load any flight plan (either generated from scratch with FSBuild, generated with FS9 flight planner or copied from my working Win7 laptop). Please see the attached screenshot. FS9 reads with no issue the flightplans in the location I've set (as you may see in the screenshot, it's not in C:\Users but D:\).

Sincerly, for a newly developed software as this one, I'd had hoped the transition to Windows 10 would be smooth, but seems I'm wrong. Is it there a way to fix this without having to wait 4 hours until PF3 is reinstalled?

Before you ask me, the Flights folder is empty, and the issue happens with any FP I have.

Have you run the validation check from options #2?

I had a an error 76 and had to do a re-install.
So you will more than likely have to do the same.
Make sure Anti Virus is off and everything is followed to the letter and I now have a working copy on my laptop running Windows 10-64.
Windows 10 has been problematic with some software as the transition from 7 to 10 hasn't been as smooth as we'd all like.

I've just done so. It reported me more than 10000 missing files :? :?

I'm attaching the log. Is it there a faster way to reinstall PF3? Last install took like 3-4 hours (and judging by the results, did not do as supposed), and defrag (O&O, Complete/Name) took 2 days...

I'm sorry to say but there must be something very, very wrong with your system if it takes 3 to 4 hours to install PF3. I have a very old (15+ years) system here which take 40 minutes for the install and that's running Win 7. My Win 10 system breezes though the install and runs without any issues.

Please ensure you run the installer as Admin and as Dave L said please also ensure you stop all other programs, especially your AV.

Taking 3-4 hours for install of PF3 and 2 days for defrag is an indication that you have a serious problem with your system that is unrelated to PF3. Maybe it is just a virus scanner looking at each written block, maybe a hardware defect, maybe Windows is doing things in the background.

Maybe check the performance monitor of Windows for processes with disk activity, and verify disk performance using a disk benchmark software?

Just to add (though I am embarrassed to say) that I have a Win XP system as old as Dave's, and PF3 installed in 40 minutes.

I also have XP and it certainly took much less than 40 minutes. If I recall 15-20. If anything were to take 3 hours to install I would be very concerned with my set-up and probably be inclined to re-install windows.

I'm not sure why it takes so much here then... Anyway, I left PF3 reinstalling and went to work. After returning, I let PF3 update and selected a flight plan. This is what I've got now:

When validating, I get 100% OK files. Puzzled...

A couple of suggestions: In your PF3 folder, right-click the PF3_Register.exe file and select Run as Administrator. Wait a few moments and then try again to load a flight plan.

At least one other user had to make an adjustment to his regional settings in Windows 10 to get flight plans to load. This may or may not be an issue in your case but see the following thread:
