Overheating is another factor... I experienced this and it had me scratching my head for some time... that was the video card too!

Hi Dave,

You were close. The culprit appears to have been the video driver. My GTX 970 settings for FSX could not deal with Prepar3D. I finally witnessed the event at the exact moment it happened and also found an error in the event log. The flash on the screen at the moment of a video driver crash is distinctive. I went back to an older driver and backed off the GPU and video memory settings and have been in the air for 2 hours with no issues. Thanks for your input! Much appreciated. All those addons now appear to be playing well together. Hope it continues!

Cheers,
George

The flight is in the books! Thanks Dave for your help, much appreciated. Did have one problem with PF3, likely user error. After going to oceanic and checking in, that was the last I heard from PF3. I have PF3 in CP Mode 2, so was surprised when there was no further communication with ATC. After 2 hours of silence, disconnected PF3 as I was more interested to see if Prepar3D would crash. It didn't. Need to investigate further.

Cheers,
George

Without a log we assume there was no problem! ;)

Most correct on that! No log...no problem. ;) Going for the grand flight today. KIAD-RJAA. Nearly 13 3/4 hours. If the system survives this, then it's all been worth it. 1 1/2 hrs in and running perfectly. That said, I am coming up with a wish and minor bug list, but that is in the future. I expect the bugs may be quirks of VB but screen shots will tell you more. They are mostly cosmetic as the overall functionality is working fine.

Cheers,
George
