On a flight out of LEBL the wind (and ATIS) gave RWY02. Given the very long taxi to the HP RWY02 and the fact that the wind made 25R also an option, I decided to go for RWY25R. So I waited for the taxi instructions from ATC to hit Ctrl+Shft+W. Nothing but my VCP replying to the taxi-instructions which was a very long one. When he was finished I tried Ctrl+Shft+W again. Nothing again.

So I had no other option then taking the 20 minutes taxi run to the HP of RWY02.

TGS is not active, by the way.

What have I done wrong?

Dirk

PF3 detected that:

At this point you should use Ctrl-Shift-N for No to switch through the runways and Ctrl-Shift-Y for Yes to confirm the new runway.

Do you see these messages on your screen?

This is what I thought at first :)

P.S.: To avoid having to wait for the long taxi instructions, I now use VCP mode #0 and switch to mode #2 when I get the correct runway.

P.P.S.: It was "only" ten minutes:

Nope. Nothing on my screens. Not on the PC (P3D) and not in Remote text on the Notebook.

Can you try without using Remote Text? (e.g. for requesting a different runway before take-off, you have to disable TGS for that)
- Do regular PF3 message appear in the sim?
- Do these runway selection prompts appear?

Hi Everyone,

I think I had this issue last night! I was flying out of EGBB and Atis reported winds from 200, so I anticipated a rwy 15 departure.

When I requested taxi I was given rwy 33, so I waited and deactivated the TGS and then did Ctrl+shft+w. But nothing happened, I never had any text appear on my screen at all. So I run with a 15 departure as there was no AI around.

My logs are attached, I have added my last one and the old one, just in case I have my days mixed up or have flown since!

Regards Rob

According to the log you never deactivated TGS, so Ctrl+Shift+W would not work

How very odd, I could have sworn I see TGS deactivated appear on my screen. Hey ho never mind no harm come to my passengers :)

But Still strange why it picked rwy 33 with the winds and when as far as I could see AI aircraft wasn't anywhere near.

But thank you Dave and the team for a such a great program, and every update brings such great additional features :)

Sorry Thomas, sometimes I am away for longer periods.
AND...
Seen the comms with Rob in this post I started to think.... In PF3 Option1 I have TGS off and Close Caption ON, but... Faster ATC and Faster readback are checked. Could it be that they both should be off as well?

I'll give it a try with Remote Text off and see what happens and let you know.

Dirk

Sorry Thomas, I was away for some time.

I tested it with the Remote Text OFF. It works fine in the FSUIPC popup.

Then I restarted PF3 and went through the process again. Just like in the previous test, after the taxi instruction was confirmed by my VCP I hit Ctrl+Shft+W and nothing happens. Not in the Remote Text and not on my PC.

VCP doesn't do that... you have to request a runway change
