.... a short question concerning the frequencies for DEP, APP and CENTER controllers PF3 is using: Are they "random" or taken from real life frequency tables? Can I manually change them in a way?
Not a big deal though, I just noticed that when I fly the same route on PilotEdge, I have completely different frequencies.

Thanks, Thomas

There is a file CenterSectors.dat which you could open with notepad. The frequency is the third entry after Center or Control. Bear in mind that there are multiple entries for each Centre/Control unit. Also check and make sure that the frequencies "are" correct otherwise it's a bit of a pointless execise. Don't forget to create a backup of the original file and make sure you resave your work with a .dat extention.

The Center frequencies are taken from the file vololiberista mentioned.
Approach and Departure frequencies are taken from the simulator, you can see the frequencies in the Runways.txt file generated by makerwys, e.g. at KPHL:
          COM: Type=8 (APPROACH), Freq=123.80, Name="PHILADELPHIA"
          COM: Type=8 (APPROACH), Freq=124.35, Name="PHILADELPHIA"
          COM: Type=8 (APPROACH), Freq=126.60, Name="PHILADELPHIA"
          COM: Type=8 (APPROACH), Freq=126.85, Name="PHILADELPHIA"
          COM: Type=8 (APPROACH), Freq=127.35, Name="PHILADELPHIA"
          COM: Type=8 (APPROACH), Freq=128.40, Name="PHILADELPHIA"
          COM: Type=9 (DEPARTURE), Freq=119.75, Name="PHILADELPHIA"
          COM: Type=9 (DEPARTURE), Freq=124.35, Name="PHILADELPHIA"
          COM: Type=8 (APPROACH), Freq=118.35, Name="PHILADELPHIA APPROACH"
          COM: Type=8 (APPROACH), Freq=119.75, Name="PHILADELPHIA APPROACH"
The Runways.txt is meant for humans, PF3 reads f5.csv, also generated by makerwys:
KPHL,8,123.80,"PHILADELPHIA"
KPHL,8,124.35,"PHILADELPHIA"
KPHL,8,126.60,"PHILADELPHIA"
KPHL,8,126.85,"PHILADELPHIA"
KPHL,8,127.35,"PHILADELPHIA"
KPHL,8,128.40,"PHILADELPHIA"
KPHL,8,118.35,"PHILADELPHIA APPROACH"
KPHL,8,119.75,"PHILADELPHIA APPROACH"
KPHL,9,119.75,"PHILADELPHIA"
KPHL,9,124.35,"PHILADELPHIA"
But there is always a but, or in this case some many:
- Many stock airports do not have these frequencies set. If Approach is missing, PF3 will use Departure (and vice versa), otherwise I think it uses the a fallback frequency from a nearby airport or something else. I don't know the algorithm, but it seems to produce a limited set of frequencies, so I sometimes get a ping-pong between only two frequencies when flying below center altitude.
- Some add-on airport sceneries even remove these frequencies!
- If these frequencies are set, they can be (and many probably are) outdated.

Be aware if you change the CenterSectors.dat file and it's included in any future update all your changes will be lost!

Thanks guys for the clarification!

I actually liked the way how Radar Contact 4 dealt with the frequencies: you were able to enter those manually when checking the flight plan. Maybe a nice way - and also easy? - to implement in future releases of PF3?
Or even easier, they actual real world Dep and App frequencies could be amended manually by the user in the update facilities feature that already exists.

FSX and P3d also have all the Center frequencies as a default file. It's bvcf.bgl and it's located in. .../scenery/world/scenery. Unfortunately Makerunways does not process that file.
