Good afternoon everyone!

I have posted a similar post before but in this case I want to start a fresh and try and work out why my MCE doesn't work as expected with PF3.

Okay here is what happens I set a slight up and start PF3 and MCE, all the usual contact delivery, ground and tower at departure and that goes fine, like wise with cruise and decent. My issue comes when I am asked to contact tower after my hand off from approach. I contact tower and nothing I get no reply, and so I never get my landing clearance.

I have been in contact with the guys at MCE and they have been looking into it and I have been trying a few files that have been tweeked. this morning I did a flight with the new files and got the same result no contact with tower, they sent me a updated file and I have tried it, this time I got tower and landing clearance, I was told to contact tower after taking a taxiway on the right. So after clearing the runway by a large distance I contacted tower and I was given my landing clearance again, and that happened after every attempt to contact tower after leaving the runway. At that point I ended the flight and gave up.

My question is this, is anyone else out there experiencing issues with the MCE and PF3 interaction, surely I can not be the only one!

Dave has already seen the files for the flight this morning (log1), but I will add the log from the second flight to see if anyone can find out what is going on.

Regards Rob

When there's no ground control at your destination just use the #5 hotkey to request taxi instructions, just as if you were tuned to ground control. I need to show that in the PF3 Display options as it's not clear.

Thank you Dave,

I did dawn on my after my post that there might not have been a ground to contact to, and there wasn't so that's answered that question :)

Dave I have contacted a the guys at MCE and said are adding the issue that occurred in log1 files to your to look at list. So there not going to make any further tweeks until you have had time to asses what caused it, so they can best asses any further tweaks

Hi Rob and Dave,

I am also experiencing some issues which I put down to my bad phraseology or latency as I have MCE on my FS PC and PF3 on a networked PC. When the interaction works it works well so that possibly rules out the network as the issue, so it's either my phraseology or anomalies in MCE perhaps not sending the correct keys or simply not having/understanding the expected phrase ...

Two examples I've noticed ... requesting taxi after a successful request for clearance and readback, and the sequence of acknowledging handover to tower from approach once established on an ILS - I cannot seem to get Tower to respond so I end up landing and switching to Ground for taxi to terminal which I usually end up pressing a key for.

I'll also inform the MCE guys of these issues as pressing the appropriate keys always works for PF3.

Regards,
Paul.

Did you try to open a wordpad window and put it in foreground while the sim an MCE are running? Maybe MCE sends the triggered keypresses to the wordpad window and you can check them.

I am currently using a different voice recognition software and I do that to check my phrases and keypresses. Don't know if it works with MCE also or if MCE needs the sim in the foreground. But maybe worth a try.

Regards

Ralf

@simjockey.

Please can you add your comments to the issue on the MCE forum. At present they are looking into this and are requesting people submit there findings and issues found.

I hope you don't mind me sharing the link to the MCE forum Dave, please remove it if it isn't acceptable.

Okay another flight this morning and no clearance from ATC dispite repeated requests, I finally got cleared to land AFTER I was on the high speed exit at EGKK.

Logs are attached for investigation.

It seems MCE is sending hotkeys 0 and 1 nearly at the same time (within one second), where it should only send 1 (check-in for landing).
At 11:40:50/11:40:53 was a slightly larger pause between 0 and 1, so the second key press got accepted as 1 and initiated the check-in for landing.

Yeah I noticed that and just assumed the user had forgotten which hotkey to use because there had been some confusion early on... but you could be right

Thank you for your feedback on the logs :)
Ben at MCE has tweaked the timing on things and I hope that they are now going to be okay for landing clearences.

One odd thing that happened tonight was I was asking GSX push back and PF3 jumped in and gave me taxi instructions? But taxi instructions for EGKK, I hadn't even taken off from EGFF at that point.

Logs are attached, I am glad I'm no software programmer as some things make no sense at all!

Regards Rob
