These appear to be completely opposite to the way that are supposed to work in reality. A position report is delivered by the aircraft to a ground controller, usually when passing a waypoint. PF3 (and PFE before it) instead provide a position check by the ground controller to the aircraft. Either option 9 under Centre needs to be changed to read Position Check Request, or the verbiage needs to change so that it to something like <call sign> passing waypoint <waypoint> at <Zulu time>, flight level <level>, <waypoint> next.

I suspect that because all the voices are recorded and can't be easily changed in practise, the former option is the most likely.

Not a big deal but it's been bugging me for about the last six years! :)

Well I must remember to try that next time I get a chance to fly because I always thought when chatting to Centre the position report did exactly as you would expect.

...I just can't remember how it used to be!

FS Screen : E-L Approach J-Bird 1608 Position Report IFR
FS Screen : E-T J-Bird 1608 15 miles from Hotel Mike Mike at 1129 local
So it is ATC that answers, not the pilot.

If this should mimic real-life ATC, it should be the other way round. I'll add something to the wish list.

Yes I know it works like that when you contact Approach but for Centre it is different and as the OP suggested it should be

No difference:
15/01/2016 17:59:40: 810 - FS Screen : E-L BERLIN RADAR J-Bird 1608 Position Report IFR
15/01/2016 17:59:49: 230 - FS Screen : M-D J-Bird 1608 10 miles from X-Ray X-Ray X-Ray at 1129 local
(the triple-X issue has been fixed during Beta, that's why I did not want to use this example)
