Something went wrong on my last flight KSFO-KLAS.

First I was cleared to approach Rwy 19R at pilot's descretion (STAR option ticked). Then I received a runway change to 1L and was told to expect vectors. Wind was variable in the METAR so the runway change itself seems plausible. But is it correct to expect vectors in case of a runway change even though the STAR option ist ticked?
After that the announcement "Vectors for the ILS 1L" was repeated several times but I never received vectors. I continued on my planned STAR to Rwy 1L. I was not handed off to approach but received speed restrictions. I tried to manually checkin with approach (after tuning the frequency manually) but received no reply so I returned to the center frequency.
When turning to final my VCP (mode 2) automatically tuned to Tower freqency and the rest worked flawlessly. Maybe except for a very late landing clearance at about 400 ft AGL. Is that intended?

Hope this helps.

Regards

Ralf

Hi Ralf,

Same thing for me at KLMT from KMWH. And same question. For me it's not logical if the STAR option is checked.

Fsx Acc, PF3 full version

Thanks in advance

I think if you receive a runway change then you wouldn't necessarily expect to remain flying the same procedure as may are runway specific... although I stand to be corrected on that one.

The repeating 'expect vectors' has been address in the next release (due later today)

Great you already fixed it.

Do I understand that correctly that - after the fix - PF3 always assigns vectors after a runway change even though the STAR option is activated?

Receiving vectors after a runway change indeed makes a lot of sense if STARs are runway specific. But as far as I know for example most of the STARs in the U.S. are not runway specific. In that case it might be a good idea to keep the PF3 vectors off, particularly when flying in mountaineous terrain.
On the other hand I can always request a clearance to final in that case. So it's okay for me if you leave it as it is.

Regards

Ralf
