Hi,
I haven't been in touch for a very long time, since PFE still works for me as ever, on P3Dv3.

I'd like to check that if I install PF3 on my second computer, where Active Sky Next already lives, I can do all my pre-flight stuff up there without any need to contact that second computer "visually" once a flight has begun.

I have pre-ordered an Oculus Rift, am trying to lighten the load on my P3D computer in any way I can, and will have to forego the ability to see the display on the second computer while in flight.

I'm sorry to ask the above question, but if the answer is Yes, I'd prefer to give Dave my support as of old, by buying PF3 straight off without bothering with the demo.

Thanks, Jim H.

PF3 can run on another computer, and with remote text you can display the messages everywhere you like, even on a third computer.
But you will have to enter the hotkeys on your P3D computer, unless you can convince WideClient to pass the hotkeys. Not sure if this works.
But even if not, I think this is already what you need. The first hotkey you need is when contacting clearance, everything else can be done without even having P3D running.

Thanks, Thomas.

So, if I map controller buttons to any of the hotkeys I intend to press and use FUIPC's message window, I should be good to go under PF3 without needing either the keyboard or the monitor of the networked computer carrying PF3.

That sounds perfect for VR.

Cheers, Jim

That's correct Jim, it works the same as PFE in that respect

Hi Dave,

Long time no speak. :)

I've just finished downloading PF3 and will install tomorrow. Do I completely uninstall all traces of PFE first, bearing in mind PF3 is to go into my No2 computer, and do all voices come with PF3, or do I use any of my present library of voices?

We're a bit older than when I was last in contact, but I'm not a bit wiser, so please bear with me.

Best Wishes, Jim Hamilton

Hi Jim,

PF3 is complete and you do not require anything from PFE. You can, however, choose to leave PFE installed until you are happy with PF3 as the two will live happily side-by-side.

Forgive my bad memory, your name certainly rings a bell, but not loud enough. Have we met?

Hi Dave,

Bad memory is just a normal part of life for me these days, but I was part of your beta team for PFE.
Didn't you used to have a few ponies?

Cheers, Jim

Ah right, of course, sorry about that.

Yes we did have a few ponies... still do... amongst a menagerie of other creatures great and small

I'm glad you're still going Dave, after all this time. I'm retired now with total livestock of two dogs - but to get back on topic............

PF3 is now installed on my No.2 computer, but I'm stuck over rebuilding the database. In the PF3 "Select Runways.csv" window I expected to see my networked drives, as in File Explorer, but none appear, so I can't complete rebuilding the database.

Could someone point me in the right direction, please?

Jim

You should see your networked drives. Do you have your main FS folder Shared?
