Hi every flight I have started with PF3 so far PF3 has stopped working mid Flight.

LEPA EGNX FL360 Cleared to FL280 from take off.

Handed over to Centre and all working fine, got to FL280 and not passed to next Centre or given a higher level.

Stopped updating next waypoint, and Commands available for the Com freq. Currently active went blank on the PF3 Display.

I use FP2FMC software to raise Flight Plan

Thank you

Steve Cooper

You were initially cleared to 28,000' but decided to climb to 29,000' You were then told by ATC to maintain 28,000' but chose to ignore it

I was at 280 for some time and thought I was forgotton, would this cause this problem ?

I will try again and report.

Did you remember to set your altimeter to standard pressure above 10,000ft. I've forgotten to do that before.

Regards Steve

Well I tried again and same thing happened, this time I was cleared to FL210 and was not given a higher altitude.

I flew for 20+ min at FL210 crossed into France and PF3 died.

Yes I was on STD 1013 as before and this time stayed at that altitude.

One thing I did notice was that The PF3 Display was showing Ctrl Freq as 132.50, but I was on 132.05. Sould the PF3 display show more than the active Freq ? because it doesnt.

I have included a new zip Logs2.

Thanks

I'm not sure if this explains the problem but when you were handed to Barcelona Control the frequency was changed (CP Mode 1) but I don't see where you made initial contact (check-in) with Control using hotkey 0. You can retry the flight and make contact with Control and see if that sorts it, or you can try using CP Mode 2 (copilot handles the comms) and see if that works better.

I think you've hit the nail on the head Dan, well done, I missed that.

@Steve - You must make contact when instructed to do so.... in fact I don't even think you made contact with Departure! As Dan suggested, try setting CP Mode to '2' until you get used to how things work

Success! thanks to both of you.

Love this Software.

My excuse for such a basic mistake is that I am 69, my senior moment?

Kind Regards

Steve Cooper

No excuse whatsoever :-)
I am 68. Plus I have advanced prostate cancer and a new one discovered in one of my kidneys.
