Hi.
I have learned how to set up and use the User Files but I am having trouble getting them to play if I choose a descent altitude instead of the timer function. If I leave them all to say 1 min they all play fine, but I want two of them to be triggered by the altitude during descent, say at 25000ft after leaving a cruise alt of 30000ft.and one to play just before landing at say,1500ft. I think I am setting them up correctly but I can not get these two to play. All the others before and after play fine.
I must be missing something but what?
Can you advise please.
All the best.
Dennis

Actually I just flew the same flight using the PMDG JS 4100 and everything worked fine. The previous flights were using the PMDG 747. So I guess my setup was right but it just did not work with the 747. Any ideas?
Dennis.

I have not had one reply to this question. Am I doing something wrong? Anyone?

Sorry, I thought you answered your own question by saying it worked with one aircraft but not the other

OK Dave, sorry for the confusion.
So here's my basic question. Why can't I get any of my complex airplanes to trigger any user files during descent? They all trigger during assent but unless I set them up with times to activate them, that's the last I hear from them. I thought the JS 4100 was the exception but I was mistaken. I would think that if they work going up they should work going down,so I don't know what else I can check.
Thanks for the help.
Dennis

I have discovered that the only way to get the announcement to trigger during descent is to set the alt to 11000 ft. I discovered this by chance as the one time the JS 4100 worked this way was when I was on a short flight and it was set for 11000 ft. This is why I thought the JS 4100 was exempt from this problem. It turns out that if I set any of the planes to trigger at 11000 ft they work fine and even the next announcement "Prep for landing" which is set for 3000 ft is triggered correctly.
I have been trying to time my flights so I can set the announcements to play approximately when needed but this is a hit or miss solution as there are too many variables, but 11000 ft is just too late to hear "As we prepare for descent"
Can you offer any suggestions as to how I can solve this issue?
Thanks.
Dennis

Upon further investigation I have found that NO aircraft will trigger an announcement during descent, even the default planes. When I tested these out I only went to 10,000ft and set the descent to trigger at 8000ft and as I have said, any plane will trigger at 11000ft or below so I was fooled by this. So it appears this function of FDC User files does not work at all!
I am sure I am wasting my time posting this as I have never had an answer to any of my questions on this subject.

No you're not wasting your time at all. All I can say is I know others are using that feature and it does work. Personally I haven't used that feature for many years. Hopefully someone who does may chip in to help you a little

Hi Dave.
Thanks for the reply. I knew saying something profound like "It don't work" would get a reaction.
OK, that's fine. I know if you could think of some way to help me you would,so I will just check in at this forum from time to time to see if any one reading this might come up with anything I might try.
I would like to tell you something that I found out last night...You have been my F/O for about three years! I had no idea that voice #1 was yours! We have spent thousands of hours together and been all over the place together.
I chose voice #1 because it is quite like my own. I am originally from SE London.(Peckham)
I can also tell you that FDC was just about the first add-on I ever bought for FSX,and I would not be without it! Thank you for a great program.
I wish you all the best Dave.
Thanks.
