Hi Neil

Thank you for the detailed explanation... very useful. However, the log files you attached are still not correct. The latest log file here is dated 26/5/20 and shows an error for which I would suggest a reinstall, but these logs do not cover the test scenario mentioned above.

Thank you Dave, I will do an uninstall and reinstall tomorrow (New Zealand time) and rerun today's exercise, and then get back to you.

Cheers
Neil

Any idea why you don't have the current logs. I am assuming of course you ran the above tests whilst connected to FS?

Yes, I was connected to FSX - will see what happens when I re-run the test tomorrow.

Hi Dave

I am not having much success!! Firstly, the Uninstall did not completely uninstall the programme - the Wise uninstaller stopped before completing the function. However, I did reinstall again from the original Aerosoft DVD and although the installation appeared to be all OK it obviously was not.

1. With FSX closed FDC would open OK but you could not access the Check List Editor, it stated that there were no checklists....checking the FDC/Data folder, all the .sco files were there but the User folder was empty. From a backup, I added the previous User files to the folder and I could then access the checklists through the Checklist Editor however once you got to page 3 a "Run-time-error "9" Subscript out of range" error popped up.
2. With FSX open FDC would not load at all - the FDC window (the grey one) would appear momentarily then disappear.
3. With FSX closed, FDC would open but close immediately FSX loading completed.

I have attached the Log files but they do not tell you much - the only entries are dated 2004.

This is very frustrating - I have used FDC and it's predecessors for many years without any problems.

Cheers,
Neil

After you installed from your original CD, which of course would have been a very old version, did you install the cumulative updates from the forum?

Hi Dave

Since my last post I have continued to try to find the cause of the problem I have been having. I have tried installing FDC on another drive but the result was the same......also installed on another computer with the same result. All appears OK but the FDC/Data/Users folder is empty. I have come to the conclusion the my Aerosoft FDC Install disk must be corrupted hence the inability to get a successful install. I have decided that I will not pursue this matter any further.

Thank you very much for your help - FDC was a great program that served me well for many years.

Cheers
Neil

Hi Neil,

The folder FDC/Data/Users is empty by default and is not populated when you install FDC... not sure what you were expecting to find in there?

No, my understanding was way off beam - I can see now why the User folder would be empty by default. Still cannot work out what is going on, obviously something in my system is the cause - will continue to try to find anything significant in my setup. Thank you very much for your patience and your help.

Cheers
Neil
