Did anybody find any solutions to this or are we all living with it?

With considerable testing I have not been able to point a finger anywhere. I still don't think it can be a problem with FDC, I think it is just reacting to the ASI readings. I have tried three different weather programmes and still experience it. I guess it is possible that one of them has installed a modified file or hidden setting which has not been subsequently removed. If so - grrrrr.

Maybe... just maybe... it's an FS issue. FDC and PF3 simply read the data provided by FSUIPC. Your weather engine would presumably also just read that data (probably directly).

Have you tried a flight without your weather program without FDC and PF3 to see if the same thing happens?

One person who may be able to help would be Pete Dowson. He knows the inner workings of FS better than anyone. I'm not suggesting for one minute it's an FSUIPC problem but Pete MIGHT be able to determine if the culprit is actually FS itself. You would need to provide as much info as possible and he would undoubtedly need log files, etc.

Thanks for the suggestions, which I will look into.

I have tested without PF3 and FDC but as it is FDC that alerts me to the issue (with the flap calls) it could be easy to this if you don't have your eyes glued to the ASI for the entire flight. I use FS to help me relax with a medical issue, so hold my hands up to spending part of the cruise section of a flight with my eyes shut and my ears open which means it is entirely possible I could miss that.

Best regards,

John

I have finally cracked this issue - it suddenly occurred to me to try the oft-recommended (but never needed by me) art of deleting the existing FS9.cfg file (after taking a backup) and letting FS build a new one. And foof - the problem has gone away.

The problem must surely have caused been my weather programme, which offers the options of "realistic" icing conditions (which I didn't find at all realistic) which either failed to turn them off or left a corrupted entry in the cfg file.

We haven't heard from the OP for a while but if he hasn't solved it this is definitely worth a try.

HEALTH WARNING - this is not for the light-hearted. If your FS is carefully configured, you may need to spend time reconfiguring everything. I wasn't expecting to lose all my keyboard, yoke and throttle assignments and sensitivity settings and this took me quite a while to get it back to as I wanted. It might have been quicker to copy the section from the old FS9.cfg but I chose to go all out for a fresh file.

Best regards,

John
