Hi,

I have been flying the VCol Jetstream 32, but though FDC loads just fine with my profile, for some reason I can't get any flap calls from pilot/co-pilot: these only come if I set flaps myself. I want the pilot and co-pilot to call/confirm flaps as the speed reaches the value in the performance file, but for me to do this myself when the call comes. This is what happens with 99% of my aircraft, and I cannot see why it doesn't with the J32.

The flap/speed settings are correct I think according to the aircraft.cfg file (and in the .uco file) - I should get a first 'flaps 10' call when my speed drops below c.160kts, but I can go right to stall with no calls.

cfg:
flaps-position.0 = 0.000,0.000
flaps-position.1 = 10.000,0.000
flaps-position.2 = 20.000,0.000
flaps-position.3 = 30.000,0.000
flaps-position.4 = 40.000,0.000

No take-off flap calls either. I tried the UI/Select Aircraft and making sure 'Procedure Variation' is #2...

I could upload my files, but maybe that's enough info? I do most of my editing through the files themselves, .uco .pro etc, which I find much easier. What settings should I be looking for over and above the ones I have mentioned to get flap calls? Or, I could check in the UI, if you'd be so kind as to give me a step-by-step.. I have compared files and the UI window with those of a/c which work (most of them, as I say) - but can't see any differences that would account for this. So after an hour's frustration, I am posting here. ;) Thanks.

Hope everyone has a great Christmas...

Martin

... I think I spotted something! Will post back after testing it out.

OK, flap callouts are working now.

FYI: The takeoff section needed another column (how did I not see that?), but that didn't effect the flap calls when landing I would think (and it didn't cause FDC to crash, I suppose, because of the zeros?). (I was wrong - I was getting a 'flaps up' call after take off). In case it's of any interest:
#Takeoff Data
#Data Format: Weight V1 VR V2 Followed by each flaps setting for this aircraft
#--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
049 112 112 115 148 141 135 131 128 000
048 111 111 114 146 139 133 129 126 000
047 109 109 113 144 137 131 127 124 000
046 108 108 111 142 135 129 125 122 000
042 105 105 110 140 133 127 123 120 000
035 104 104 110 138 131 125 121 118 000
000 103 103 109 136 129 123 119 116 000
#EOD
The landing section was missing the 000 row at the end and also I changed 3 / 1500 to 5 / 1500, at the bottom. From testing, I think it was adding the 000 line that corrected the problem. I didn't know that was always needed.

000 150 140 128 118

#--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
#LAST Flap Call column decided on IAS. Following this, Flaps are called depending on Altitude
# This is followed by the Flap column at which point Gear Down is called (defaults to Flap 20)
# This is followed by the altitudes (RA) to call the remaining flap settings

(Shouldn't I have been at a Christmas Eve party, rather than have been doing this!? Sigh.)

Any empty columns should have a zero and after last flaps call, I tend to fill remaining columns with zero's so I get flaps up call and make all speeds about 5-8kts difference ie: flaps 1=123 flaps 2=128 flaps 3=135 or something along those lines(depending on what my source of information tells me)...try not to have callouts that close.
For landing... a zero should be in last column it can't be left blank as FDC will tell you or any columns...as you have found out.
At least you have it working now so you wont make the same mistake twice!.. ;)

Hi Dave. You mean columns or rows? It seems to me that it was adding the last row, starting 000, to the Landing Data that solved the problem. There's no 000 column there (though I have one in the Take Off section).

As you see, I added the extra row in the landing section (after which, flap calls 'came online'). I may try removing it again, to see if that stops them working, to be sure it's that change that made the difference. I had assumed it to be the change from 3/1400 to 5/1500 (that'd make more sense?), but...
