I have had a new problem over the past week or two and wonder what might be the cause. At first I just thought it was a one-off glitch, but I have had it several times now: I connect FDC at the usual juncture, when the flight is loaded at the gate (been doing this for some years now, so I can't believe I am doing anything basically wrong!) and when I click on my key to begin the first lot of checks, instead of starting at the beginning, it starts with 'After Take Off Checks'. I disconnect and reconnect, then we are at the right place, with the pre-start checklist.

Any reason this might be happening? Not worked out yet if it is with all aircraft, but I never had this before about a week ago with any aircraft I loaded, so can't see how that would be a factor.

Thanks

.. same again today, FDC starts at 'After Take-Off Checks' on connection. I have zipped the logs if anyone needs them? I can't see anything in the checklist files that looks odd..

I am still getting this quite regularly (though not all the time, by any means): I start up as normal (almost second nature by now) but the first checklist is @after Takeoff checks'. I disconnect FDC (and the programme closes down completely, straight away) and restart it again, and then things start at the beginning. I attach some fresh logs for your delight and delectation... Did you get to look at the ones I sent before?

Thanks.

M.

This is currently happening every flight now - there's always something new in this hobby to drive you nuts! The log file shows that as soon as I connect, FDC does something odd: 'Flight Mode Changed to TakeoffRoll'. What would make FDC change to before take-off checks on startup, instead of Pre-Start? Is it something I have done (the profile?)? But if I disconnect FDC and reconnect, I then get the checklists as they should be and FDC continues to destination with no problems.

If FDC detects you ground speed to be greater than 90% of the speed set for your 'IAS Active Call Out speed' AND your throttles are NOT set to idle or you have TOGA set to ON then FDC will consider you to be on the roll

Well without monitoring your system and checking all the FSUIPC offsets FDC is checking to ascertain such things I'm afraid I have no way of telling what's occurring, I can only tell you how it's coded... that's how it's been for the past 14 years or more !!

Is it always the same aircraft/panel this happens with?

Dave, I think I have found out why this happens and how to get around it. It happens when I load up a saved flight which contains complex saved aircraft state data (panel state, CDU etc. etc.), such as happens with the PSS B777.

I was connecting FDC like this: At the 'Choose a Flight' screen, I load a saved flightplan, select 'Yes' to start FS9 at the chosen departure poiint and so end up at my departure gate with the c172. If I then load my chosen aircraft and then connect FDC, no problem. But, if, from the c172, I load a saved flight plan which contains all this extra saved state data, FDC always begins with after take-off checks.

The way around this is, when at the gate in the c172, you first load your chosen a/c, say a PSS B777, then connect FDC, and only then run the saved flight plan containing the saved aircraft state parameters. Then FDC starts at the beginning.

Obviously there's something in all that saved data that FDC doesn't like!
