And next flight, I get 'glideslope captured' just moments before touchdown. Seems very uinpredictable. Also, I was landing on a runway with no ILS, no localizer and no glideslope, but I still got the calls. Do the callouts happen automatically, irrespective whether there are Loc & GS frequencies? |

It works by detecting the movement on the gauge needle. |

That's odd, there was no needle movement. I think in this case, quite by chance, I was tuned to the ILS for Rwy 21R, but was, as instructed by PF3, landing on Rwy 21L (with no ILS), so flying by hand. As I say though, the announcement 'Glideslope Captured' came only 10-15 seconds before I touched down on the runway. Any glideslope would have been captured a lot earlier |
