I wonder if anyone else notices that the FDC announcements for these come too late? For instance, the 'Glideslope captured' call always comes when I have already been descending a good while and am not that far short of landing. "Tell me news, not history..."

Not a 'biggie', but a tweak so that the calls come when the captures actaully happen would be good. Is that something I can do in the ini file (I am guessing not)?

Martin :)

Martin :)
It happens to me all the time but I just use it as an excuse to kick the CP. After all he kicks me enough times

Try changing the figure in GPWS Tab,Goto Options tab,GPWS and look for calls about Loc/Glideslope at the bottom of screen, mine is currently 5000 try 3500 or less and see if that works.

"Localiser Captured" when I was about 500 feet above the runway :D / :? Yes, CP needs a definite kick!

You say CP needs a kick...what exactly is he/she doing wrong?

Well, as I say, announcing that the glideslope has been captured so long after the a/c actually captures it and starts descending. Last time I was almost on the runway before the fact was announced. 'Localiser captured' is similarly usually late too.

It's only a cosmetic thing of course, but it would be good if the announcements came at the right point, if at all possible.

Thanks Dave

I'm also wondering if it could be an afcad thing where your aircraft isn't picking up GS/LOC until it's too late, due to elevation of runway.
I have issues where the intercept angle is slightly different with some scenery and end up overshooting due to the height it intercepts the landing runway Aerosofts Nice is a prime example.

Hi Dave,

If it is an AFCAD thing, then it must be something that affects most if not all of them, as the lateness of the calls happens every time I fly, no matter what airport I am approaching. So much so that I hardly notice it any more: I'll make a bit more of a note as to where and when.

OK, this kind of thing happens so often!! Having just said that the calls are pretty much always late (which was true), on my last flight the glideslope call came at just the right moment! Some kind of 'ghostly 'fluence' at work ..

Well, I'll keep checking and see if this is repeated in future flights.

Thanks.
