I thought someone said that migration tool was free! The one I downloaded is certainly not!

The "correct" migration tool, from the link I gave, is certainly not free.
I believe there is a free tool out there, but it is full of malware and certainly not recommended.

May I ask when can we expect an answer to the simple question "Will FDC work with Prepar3D"?

You may ask but I can't tell you. As far as I know the migration tool does not alter anything in FDC, but I don't intend to try it myself. Prepar3D is not currently and will probably never be as popular as MSFS simply because it is not made for nor designed for entertainment use. Also I think the licensing is prohibitive for most FS users. If you've installed FDC using this migration tool and would like to tell me what the folder structure looks like and when the error occurs I will gladly work with you the best I can, but I do not intend purchasing the migration tool nor a Prepar3D license.

Sorry
