For quite some time I have wondered about the following which only occurs on some flights. The same flight may be repeated with or without the same problem:

1. Comm.1 and Nav1 non valid frequency changes for some unknown reason and from unknown source.
Example:
Flight from KHST-KWRI in Mike Stone's Boeing C17 Globemaster III.
Star: SIE4.OTT
Please note: For the following flight I am flying in CP Mode 2 - Virtual CP as Mode 1 handles all comm's

The flight was fine until somewhere between FAK and QBEES with my last comm. setting by my copilot correctly 132.78. I did not catch exactly when, but somewhere in or shortly past this area, all three frequencies were changed to bogus settings by some varmit on my number 1 radio, Comm. NAV1, and NAV1 standby. (Radio frequencies on the number 2 radio are not changed). Not noticing this, I passed OTT before noticing it (ATC freq. should have been 134.5 at OTT but all comm was lost by this time). The only way I have found to recover is to go to the FSS freq. (122.2) and request the center frequency. When I did this, the contact was 132.78 (The area between FAC and QBEES where it had been changed by unknown sources). If I turn 180 degrees and backtrack to this area, ATC will eventually update and tell me as would be expected to change to 134.5. Thereafter the flight can be continued and completed as planned but with the following glitches. If I have made the mistake of requesting vectors, ATC tells me I am so many miles off of the airway (as expected) but instructs me to turn to 165 degrees repeatedly which would put me way off in the boonies relative to my flight plan. This is repeated every couple of minutes until the following. As I neared my destination (KWRI) I had previously been instructed to descend from 35,000 to a lower altitude but still pretty high. When I requested vectors from ATC (Center freq. 133.5) the reply was field advisories. I manually changed the frequency to the approach frequency (120.25) and regained communication which instructed me successfully to my landing on Rwy.6 (Remember, I was in CP Mode). Another strange thing was that after changing to the approach frequency, every few moments I was instructed: "XXspect runway 6". The XX was almost "ex" but was garbled.

Note: If I am on my toes and keep an eye on the radio freq. settings, I sometimes can catch when the change has occured, or at least soon after it had occured and replace the correct last center frequency, I am able to then retain communications with no additional problems throughout the flight.

Also note that for some flights a similar strange heading instruction sometimes takes place after takeoff before intercepting the flight path as well. The instructed heading may in fact cross the planned flight path or go some other direction. If I continue on that instructed heading, I will eventually start receiving a communication telling me I am so many miles off of my flightpath. If I ignore the bogus heading instruction and fly my flightplan the flight may go just fine all the way to my destination and landing but I will repeatedly get instruction to turn to the bogus heading. It seems that there are two ATC sources, one giving me the bogus heading, the other correct ATC for my flightplan.

2. Another question: At times PFE ATC ignores me when I request "Say Again". At other times it repeats the last communication just fine.

Any ideas?
Thanks RTH
