I am revisiting this request of mine again. Actually I realized that VoxATC handles STARS the way I recommended: one can set a starting and ending waypoint for any given STAR (even start and end altitudes) and once one reaches the ending waypoint ATC will take back control and give vectors to final. That is exactly what would be needed here as well.

Could there be a temporary solution using the 'request vectors' option in PFE? Would it work after you have been started down the STAR at your own discretion eg. you reach the end coordinate and simply ask for vectors from then on? Would not be automatic as in VOXAtc but could still work. Could it not?
