First I am a new user so therefore probably ignorant!!
When I click the "connect to FS" button I get an error message "No available hotkey slots found unable to continue"
and PFE closes.

Is there something I am missing or is there a problem?

1) are you using the latest version of PFE (2.11.1)

2) what other addons are you using?

3) did you have any other mesage before this one

I downloaded it yesterday and immediately did the update it says version 2.6.0 updates checked 28/05/09 08:26 Quite how one upgrades to version 2.11.1 I'm afraid I can't see!

I don't have any addons that might affect the keys as they relate almost entirely to scenery etc

I didn't have any other messages before except during the installation my virus checker picked up a virus in GHL0004.tmp in the system32 directory which is currently quarantined.

If you're having problems using auto updates please read the sticky post entitled 'PFE Manual Installation Instructions'

Ok I saw that and now fully up to date. However! The same error message re hotkeys exists thus preventing me from using the programme at all!

Do you use any flight hardware like Go-flight MCP for example or the MCP combo from VRinsight? As I have seen this error a couple of times if I start PFE after I've connected up all my hardware. Try loading PFE before connecting any advanced hardware panels like this if you have them and you should be fine.

I don't use any hardware add ons except the CH yoke so it's a mystery still. Could it be affected by an a/c like Concorde with loads of panels on screen (unlikely i think but)

'Not enough hotkeys' is not the cause of the problem and can only occur for one of two reasons.

1. You do not have the latest version of FSUIPC installed

or

2. Another error occurred which you ignored and restarted PFE three or four times and then received the hotkey message

I'm currently using FSUIPC version 3.65 with FS9 I can see that I can upgrade to v 4+ would these also be able to work with my setup? i.e sould I avoid the "very latest" version

Many thanks

No version 4 and above is for FSX only, the latest version for FS9 (FS2004) is 3.9 and is available from http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.html

By the way all future updates for owners of version 3 are always free, there is only a charge if you want to buy version 4 for FSX and once you have that all future updates for version 4 are free too.
