Hello,

I have been working very hard to install PFE Deluxe on my computer for 2 days now, but with no success.

I have a DELL XPS M1730, with Vista 32 and FSX.

I can install PFE. However, if I click OK to update, then I get an error message. If I uninstall PFE, and then I install PFE again, then with no update, I can set the source and the dest directories, then I can convert a flight plan.

However, if I launch Proflight 2000, I get an error message:

Run-time error '13': Type mismatch

Then I uninstall everything, then I reinstall PFE, I click "no" for an update, then I go to your PFE support forum Website, I download the latest cumulative update, then my antivirus avast! screams (there seems to have a virus somewhere in the package). I let avast! delete the virus, but then the cumulative update works through step 1/12, but stops at step 2/12 with another error message.

At this point I am running out of possibilities... What should I do?
Please help (and cc to max.silberztein[AT]gmail.com)
thanks
Max

Taken from the FAQ pinned at the top of this forum

Q: Every time I try to start ProFlight it give me an Error 13 message! What can I do.

A: We are unsure why this occasionally happens to some users, but here's a simply workaround. Please download this small utility from HERE..... unzip it into your MAIN PFE Folder then run it. Once complete you should be able to start ProFlight 2000

thanks for your reactivity.

I downloaded and ran PF2K_Repair.exe; unfortunately it gives me the error message:

Run-time error '76':
Path not found

(I never touched the default installation of anything during my multiple installation attempts)

What else can I do? Is there anyway you could tell me if there is indeed a virus in the cumulative update package, or can I disable my antivirus?

Did you place the file PF2K_Repair.exe within the main PFE install folder before you ran it?

There is no virus in the installer it is a false positive caused by poor Avast virus definitions.

thanks I put the PF2K_Repair in the right directory, and now Proflight 2000 works.

However I still have one problem and one question:

(1) the PFE Accumulative Update still does not work, even though I disabled my antivirus. It does step 1/12, but when it starts step 2/12, it produces an error message: "Installation FAILED!"

(2) it looks like Proflight sets up my plane as being a Boing 747, even though my flight plan is for a cesnna 172 (GA & vfr). How/where can I change the 747 to a Cessna 172 ?

thanks
Max

Sorry I cant answer question 1, although I will say have you tried using the built in PFE update system as show in the below image? and what version are you running now?

The answer to question 2 is to press the button highlighted in the picture below.

I use Vista as my OS and this comes with a very good screen capture program called "snipping tool", I then upload my images to the free image hosting service http://www.photobucket.com once the image is uploaded to the hosting service it allows you to copy and paste a suitable link into the forum to display the image. Once you have the service set up (which is really easy) you can get it to display the links below each image in your photo album and then its just a case of copying and pasting the link into the forum post.

Ray,

Just add a link to your image/screenshot... highlight the link then hit the little Img button just above where you type the text for the post

Hi Max,

If the installation of the cumulative update fails then read the rest of the documentation.... it shows you have to perform the install manually.
