Hello David,
I'm having a new problem with PFE. I am adding new scenery and airports into my new computer. Naturally I run Makerwys and rebuild the database within PFE each time I add a scenery.
Now, I cannot seem to rebuild the Database. I will run MakeRwys, then go to Options1 and rebuild the Database within PFE.
When I start FSX and PFE, I get the error that PFE's database needs to be rebuilt.
I have rebuilt the run MakeRwys and rebuilt the database (long process) four times and every time PFE says it was successful.
What could be my problem?

David,
I'm looking at the DBRebuild2.log file and it says: Err:55 - File already open - Loc: 640 3 42414127 ELLX

ELLX is Aerosoft's Luxembourg Airport, which I just purchased and installed. I have uninstalled it to see if things will work. I have also run MakeRwys and rebuilt the database within PFE.

.....no, it didn't make any difference. I am still getting the message:
******PFE has a problem and will disconnect!******

and in a separate window, an error message: "You need to Rebuild the PFE Database!" which I have done now about six times. :cry:

Thanks,
Bob

Close PFE down completely first after you have rebuilt the database then restart it and see if it works now.

Hi Bob,

Please check for the following files in the PFE\Data folder and tell me which one(s) have not got the same date and time (within a few minutes)

PFE_FSX_freq.dat
PFE_FSX_Gates.dat
PFE_FSX_Runways.dat
PFE_FSX_Taxilink.dat
PFE_FSX_Taxiways.dat

The rebuild process should only take 30 seconds or so... if it's taking a LONG time then we have another issue somewhere.

Thank you for your quick response. It's the MakeRwys process that takes a long time (about 20mins). PFE goes through it's process pretty quickly.

PFE_FSX Freq.dat= 12:25AM
PFE_FSX_Gates.dat= 12:25AM
PFE_FSX_Runways.dat= 12:25AM
PFE_FSX_TaxiLink.dat= 12:36AM
PFE_FSX_Taxiways.dat= 12:25AM

I did close PFE several times and even restarted my computer thinking that may help.
I'm having some kind of strange problem with FSX because if I try to manually add a scenery in the scenery library, it will activate, but it will be a blank line in the scenery file list. The only way that I know which scenery it is , is by selecting "Edit". This has been this way since I installed FSX into my new computer with W7. It's not anything to do with PFE, but I didn't know if that would effect the database process.
I don't know where the scenery.cfg file is that shows all of my add-on scenery. Neither the one in the main FSX folder or the one in the Roaming\Microsoft\FSX folder seem to show any of my payware addons that are activated in the scenery library.

Thank you,
Bob
