Hello,

I have a little problem with hotkey 2 in approach. The manual says: Approach,2,Request an instrument approach.

If I do this after initial check in on the approach frequency, the answer is the same like an request to ACARS ATIS on the center frequency.

At some point after you contact approach, you'll get an instruction to maintain heading X and expect vectors for runway Z. If I remember correctly, "request instrument approach" and "cleared to final at pilot's discretion" will work after that point.

FYI, PFE interprets "request instrument approach" to mean that you want an ILS runway. If there is no ILS runway, your request will be denied. If there is an ILS runway, you'll get vectors to it. If you want to fly a full IAP, use "cleared to final at pilot's discretion" instead and you'll get no further instructions until you're established on final and contact tower.

Hi all,

Really enjoying the immersion of PFE over the default ATC, now that I have it working. Took a bit, but seems to be worth it. I do have a question about hotkey 2, I don't see it in my list of potential commands for approach. Based on the above discussion, I assume it's to ask for an instrument approach? Is that accurate?

Thanks,

Hi Jeff,

Yes, you would normally use that if you had been given a visual approach

Hi,

Thanks for the confirmation, I do enjoy the immersion of your ATC program a lot. Do you have a current complete list of the commands? I have a single page cheat sheet that I created from your guides, but sometimes what I think I'm getting from ATC isn't completely accurate. If you'd like I can send you what I created and see how it meshes with virtual reality.

Regards,

Got to your PFE\PFE_Displayer folder and open the PFE_Disp.dat file with Notepad. This list will show you the information used for the PFE Display utility, which you may not have used yet. It shows the relevant keys when tuned to different facilities and their intended use.

Hope that helps

Hi Dave,

Thanks! It helps very much, and the utility looks useful as well. I can tell at a glance which facility I'm connected with, and my options for that facility. Great little product!

Regards,
