Post subject:  Randomizer question

I have a question for people that use the Randomizer. It is my understanding that it turns Stars and Sids on and off so thyat your departure and approach may have stars checked or unchecked in PF3. My question is, what happens when you are at an airport that doesn't have a Sid or arriving at one with no stars? Does PF3 expect you to navigate on your own after departure or at arrival?

I moved this post to the correct forum from PF3 which has nothing to do with Randomizer.

Nice to see you didn't give up on PF3 ;-)

Your understanding is correct. One of the key features of the Randomizer is the randomization of the SID / STAR checkbox, so that you do not know in advance if you will be vectored (SID / STAR option unchecked) or just cleared for a procedure (SID / STAR option checked). Regarding how PF3 handles it, it makes no difference if you manually check or uncheck these checkboxes or if you let the Randomizer do it.

So if the SID / STAR option is checked PF3 will just clear you for the Departure / Approach. You can then fly the SID / STAR of your choice or whatever route you want to - the navigation is up to you.
If you want to go further you can use the procedure name randomization of the Randomizer for several alternatives if you like. For example for an airport without a STAR you can have one name for a visual approach and one name for a direct to the final approach fix.

Have a look at my "Advanced Generic Presets" - also available on the SimRandomizer site - to get a better idea of the possibilities.
