Then how does STAR works? I also always define beginning of STAR in waypoint along with holding point. Still if STAR box is unchecked I get vectors and if STAR box is Checked then STAR clearance. This gives unpredictability which is like real life situation.

It was a completely new flight with new pf3. I checked pf3 Sid star boxes after I completed flight. SID bax was untied but still got departure through SID. I had no problem with STAR. the box was untied and I was vectored in properly.
