No I didn't email you just been posting on here.

I am installing it on my d drive (it fails on both c and d), but after the above error code it says could not find fsx default folder or something to that effect.

I tried that but still not installing, it doesn't find the root folder for FSX either and I can't see a way to manually change this?

I get the following error when installing FDC its get to 86% then gives me this:

Media Name:DATA
Component FDC
File Group FDC
File: F:\setup\data2.cab
Error Number:- 2147024873 (refer to the online help)

it has worked in the past but on a different machine

any ideas??
