I find the data base update feature a bit annoying having to tick all the boxes before getting to the actual update. No doubt very good the first time you use the program, but a shortcut would be good.

I'm sure it's post-Christmas fog, but I can't seem to find the way to change the transition altitude in FDC.

Apologies if this has been covered in the forum somewhere else! There are a number of airports that are not in the FDC database - for example, EKEL in Denmark. I can't see how to update the database.

Lynn I think most voice recognition programmes are just interfaces between the user and the Microsoft kit, although people more in the know may correct me. It seems to me that if you want a realistic cockpit environment you need engine noise, cabin crew talk etc etc and this will always confuse the ...

I've used PFE for a while now and it's great. Two things though. I've noticed recently that if I'm waiting in line behind other traffic at the runway, PFE will clear me to take-off regardless of the other traffic. And secondly at some airports (eg Aerosoft's Leipzig) I get permission to cross active...

Lynn I've used Shoot with both PFE and FDC for a while. It works well generally, although if you like noisy engines in your cockpit it tends to get a bit confused, although that's Microsoft's speech recognition rather than Shoot. It is a bit limited on the key combinations (see the manual) it will s...

Andy

Thanks for the explanation - I'd done this by accident but I couldn't work out how to do it on purpose!

Yes, but it seems that to be able to select the sound card per application (and, most important, to be able to independently allocate sound cards to applications that run concurrently) has to be done from the application itself. FSX SP2 does have this, but it then becomes the default for everything....

It doesn't seem possible in FDC to choose which audio device the sounds are played through? By default, sounds seem to come via FSX's voice channel. Any suggestions on how to get FDC sound through a different audio card?

Using the sound settings in FSX (voice to headset, other sounds to speakers) puts PFE in the headset and engines etc in the speakers. Sound wise, I think the best solution is to run PFE on the main computer with FSX (so the PFE ATC is on the headset) and to run FDC on a second computer so that cockp...
